So Suzanne, tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m originally from Southern California and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Long Beach State. Early in my career, I worked at top-tier agencies like J. Walter Thompson, where I developed a strong foundation in brand strategy and advertising. Over time, I discovered my passion for digital marketing—the fast-paced, ever-evolving nature of the industry keeps things exciting, and I love the flexibility it offers.
Long before “digital nomad” became a buzzword, I embraced the remote work lifestyle, spending six months traveling through Central America in 2014 while continuing to grow my career. Now, I’ve settled in Antigua, Guatemala, with my husband and two young children. Adventure is a big part of my life, and my favorite way to spend time with my family is through travel—whether it’s exploring Guatemala, road-tripping across the U.S., wandering through Asia, or sightseeing in Europe. There’s nothing like experiencing new cultures and perspectives!
Can you share with us a little about your background and how you came to work for NetPicks?
This might date me a bit, but I actually came to work for NetPicks after answering a help-wanted ad on Craigslist—back when it was one of the first major online job boards in 2008! While my career began at J. Walter Thompson, one of the world’s top advertising agencies, I eventually gravitated toward digital marketing and working with startups and smaller businesses. I found that I could make a bigger impact by being directly involved in the innovations and strategies that drive their success.
I originally worked with NetPicks for a couple of years starting in 2008, then pursued other opportunities before recently returning—and it truly feels like coming back to family! With my expertise in marketing and a deep understanding of strategic partnerships, transitioning into the financial education space was a natural fit. For well over a decade, I’ve helped businesses like NetPicks create powerful marketing strategies and affiliate partnerships that fuel their growth, and I’m excited to be back and contributing once again.
So what made you decide to specialize in this field?
I love working in an industry where my efforts directly impact people’s financial well-being. The financial education space isn’t just about numbers—it’s about empowering individuals to take control of their financial future. That’s something I’m passionate about.
Plus, I thrive in environments where I can connect businesses with the right partners and create win-win relationships. I enjoy seeing companies grow as a result of well-executed strategic collaborations.
So tell us more about what you do on the day-to-day…
On a typical day, I manage affiliate partnerships, deliver materials to affiliates so they can be successful, and identify new opportunities for business growth. Beyond that, I’m always on the lookout for innovative ways to help NetPicks stand out in the financial education space—whether it’s through strategic alliances, media placements, or creative advertising.
You’re spinning many plates! With all those responsibilities, what would you say is your favorite part of your work?
I love the relationship-building aspect of my work. Connecting NetPicks with the right partners, seeing a campaign take off, and knowing that my efforts contribute to people’s financial growth is incredibly rewarding.
I also love the challenge of marketing in the financial education space—it’s not just about selling a product, it’s about creating trust, delivering real value, and making a meaningful impact in people’s lives.
