What are you currently trading?
I trade futures, specifically the 144-tick TY (10-Year Treasury Notes) and the 89-tick S (Soybeans). I’ve also traded the Dow, S&P, Nasdaq, and Russell 2000 e-minis in the past. At this point, I’m considering adding the TF (Russell 2000 e-mini) to my trade plan.

And where are you from?
I’m German, but I grew up mostly in South America and have lived in the U.S. since my freshman year of college. I currently reside in Princeton, New Jersey, where I’ve lived for the past 25 years—or a quarter century, whichever sounds lower!

So why did you become a trader?
I started trading stocks a little over ten years ago, swing trading using the CAN SLIM strategy popularized by Investor’s Business Daily. A few years later, I was laid off from my banking job and decided to give full-time trading a shot. The idea of working from home appealed to me, and trading is a business that requires a relatively small upfront investment and low operating costs.

I consider myself fortunate because this decision allowed me to be present while my children were growing up, instead of being stuck on a late commuter train from New York City.

And how did you connect with NetPicks?
I was a customer of NetPicks’ first release, the UTM (Ultimate Trading Machine). This was my introduction to futures and day trading. When NetPicks released the Universal Market Trader (UMT), I jumped on board right away because I had been happy with UTM’s performance and had a great deal of respect for the NetPicks team. I felt they were upfront with customers and genuinely committed to our success.

We early adopters became very active in the UMT members’ forum, discussing setups, backtests, and performance. Through the forums, I got to know Troy Noonan and Mike Rykse. Over time, a core group of us spent a lot of time helping newer members. Later, when Brian Short started his semi-weekly online live training, we all migrated there.

I felt I had a lot to contribute because of my experience with the system. Once Troy became active with the NetPicks team, he suggested to Brian that I join as a coach for the mentorship program. I jumped at the opportunity. I enjoy working with people and get great satisfaction from helping others succeed in trading. That’s why I’m thrilled to be a NetPicks Trading Mentor and Coach.

Finally, I have great respect for everyone involved at NetPicks—starting with Brian and Mark, the coaches, Cheryl in Customer Support, and everyone else. They are all committed to both the system and the success of its members.

What do you think sets the NetPicks trading systems apart from the rest?
Because they work. I’ve traded the Universal Market Trader, Ultimate Swing Trader, and Seven Summits Trader across multiple instruments, and I’ve backtested them on many more. With rare exceptions, these systems have consistently demonstrated robust performance.

No matter where I apply them, I typically see 60% to 65% win rates, with equity curves that trend upward over time. Like all trading systems, they have their drawdowns—they’re not the holy grail—but for something so simple and straightforward, they are remarkably effective.

How many other courses, strategies, or systems did you try before finding your current method?
Not many, honestly. The only other system I followed seriously was CAN SLIM, as I mentioned earlier. Other than that, I subscribed to several online trading sites, but none offered anything as powerful, flexible, and robust as what NetPicks provides.

What are the top benefits you think members gain from the mentor classes and live training rooms? Why do you think the mentor class is so successful?
The mentorship program helps students gain confidence in both the system and themselves. Through a combination of backtesting, group instruction, and one-on-one coaching, they learn the three key elements of trading success:

  1. A solid methodology
  2. Effective money management
  3. Mental discipline

You need all three to succeed, and I believe we deliver that through the mentorship program—provided that students put in the time and effort.

The daily live training further reinforces what students learn in mentorship. I believe that those who go through mentorship get significantly more out of the live training than those who don’t. They get to see, in real time, how experienced traders apply the system every day. They learn the nuances of money management techniques, and perhaps most importantly, they witness how moderators maintain discipline and mental focus—whether a trade results in a win or a loss.

In the end, a trader’s mental attitude and discipline will determine their success or failure.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with traders considering a NetPicks trading system?
Yes. First, these systems are not the holy grail. Every trade is not a winner, and there will be drawdown periods.

Second, don’t expect to start with a $5,000 account and turn it into a million in six months—or make $10,000 a month right off the bat. What these systems will do for committed traders is provide a structured approach that allows them to gradually grow their accounts. As their accounts grow, they can increase the number of contracts and instruments they trade, eventually reaching a level where full-time trading becomes a reality.

NetPicks trading systems are incredibly flexible and robust, and they come with the best support I’ve seen in the industry.
